Traditional Malaysian Desserts
I have always been interested in the diversity in cultures around the world. Malaysia is one of the most multicultural countries in the world, and it has a lot of traditional dishes that I have been dying to try. One of them is called called “kueh lapis”, a layered cake made with a translucent rice flour dough that is filled with grated coconut and pandan jelly, and topped with a sweet, sticky glaze.
There are over a hundred different traditional Malaysian desserts and many are made with coconut milk. One such dessert is kueh tutu which is made of steamed glutinous rice flour cake with a sweet coconut filling.
Pandan Gula Melaka Butter Cookies
A buttery cookie made with pandan and gula melaka! It’s that time of year again! This is when we start to think about all the things that are coming up in the new year. And we know that one of the top things on most people’s list is to get back into the kitchen and start baking!
What better way to start the New Year than with a recipe for pandan gula melaka butter cookies? I love the rich buttery flavor of these cookies and the hint of pandan and gula melaka that make them a little different from any other cookie.
