How to Make Cajun Shrimp Lasagna Pasta a Simple One-Pot Meal
Shrimp lasagna pasta is a delicious way to get your fill of protein and flavor. The recipe takes some time to cook and assemble, but you can make the components in advance, even days before dinner.
The end result is well worth it: a hearty mixture of shrimp and vegetables baked with creamy sauce that will leave everyone full and satisfied!
INGREDIENTS
- Shrimp (about 1 lb.)
- Lasagna pasta (12 oz.)
- Cheese, grated/shredded (8-10 oz.) – I used a mixture of monterey jack and cheddar. You can use whatever you like!
- Cajun seasoning – I used McCormick’s Grill Mates Cajun Seasoning but feel free to use your own blend or store-bought Cajun seasoning mix.
- Cream of Mushroom Soup – I used Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom Soup. Feel free to substitute with your favorite brand or homemade mushroom soup recipe!
- Bacon bits – about 2 tbsp., optional but recommended!
- Garlic powder & onion powder, salt & pepper – to taste
What is Shrimp Lasagna Pasta
Shrimp Lasagna Pasta is a one pot meal that is easy to make. It has lots of flavor and is really tasty. The combination of ingredients makes this a great way to use up leftovers. Shrimp lasagna pasta is also a great Cajun recipe!
Methods
- Cook the pasta according to package directions. Drain, rinse with cold water, and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat; add garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 30 seconds). Add shrimp to pan and cook 2-3 minutes per side until pink on both sides and cooked through. Remove from heat; set aside but keep warm if you have time!
- While shrimp is cooking, prepare vegetables: chop onion finely or use your food processor’s slicing attachment for super quick work! Chop bell pepper into bite-sized pieces (about 1 inch) Heat olive oil in a medium sized saucepan over medium heat; add chopped onion and bell pepper along with salt & pepper & cook for about 5 minutes until onions are soft & translucent then stir in garlic powder & cayenne pepper flakes!
- Stir together 1 cup marinara sauce plus ¼ cup water then pour into skillet with veggies/garlic mixture then bring to boil over high heat (about 3 min). Reduce heat down low so it simmers instead of boiling then cover skillet tightly with lid so steam can build up pressure inside pan which will help soften this vegetable mixture even further. Don’t lift lid yet though because otherwise all those tasty juices will escape before they cook down into deliciousness!!! Wait another 5 minutes before removing from stovetop since inside still needs extra time on stovetop while outside cools off enough not burn fingers when touching handle again later when serving up this dish tonight 😉
Special Note
Cajun shrimp is a traditional Cajun dish that uses ingredients like bell peppers, onions and chilies. It’s served over pasta in a delicious sauce that’s perfect for any meal of the day. You can make this dish with chicken or other seafood as well, but we recommend making it with shrimp because it adds flavor to the lasagna noodles on top and gives you a delicious protein boost in one bite.
Also note: We recommend using fresh ingredients whenever possible because many canned vegetables are high-sodium and may not taste as good as fresh ones. If you don’t have access to fresh ingredients through your local farmer’s market or grocery store produce department, try looking online at sites like Amazon where they sell high-quality frozen vegetables such as peas or spinach—these are great options at an affordable price point!
If you’re having trouble finding lasagna sheets locally (or if they’re just too expensive), go ahead and substitute linguine instead—it will work just fine! Other types like shells or bow ties might be difficult though since they aren’t as wide as flat sheets; if this happens then go ahead with what works best for yourself!
A great Cajun recipe that you can make with ingredients that you probably already have on hand!
- Make sure you have the right ingredients on hand. If you’re using a recipe that calls for milk, make sure you have milk in your fridge. If it calls for spinach, be sure there’s some around—don’t substitute kale or broccoli!
- Make sure you have all of the ingredients on hand. Your recipe may not turn out well if it requires two heads of garlic and only one is available.
- You can substitute or add ingredients to this Cajun recipe if needed, but keep in mind that substitutions may change the taste and texture slightly by altering how things cook together in the pan (like substituting cream cheese with ricotta).
