A Cajun Seafood Boil: Way to Throw a Crab & Shrimp Feast.
When I’m not busy writing articles or doing SEO, I like to do a little cooking. It’s a great way to unwind after a long day of working, and it’s fun to share your creations with friends.
So many people are intimidated by seafood boil because they don’t know how to cook shrimp and other seafoods properly. However, this recipe is simple enough that even beginners can enjoy it at home!
Ingredients
2.5 pounds red potatoes, cut in half
- 5 pounds red potatoes, cut in half
Directions: Place the potatoes in the bottom of a large stock pot with water. Bring to a boil over high heat, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until tender when pierced with a fork (about 15 minutes). Drain well and set aside until ready to serve.
1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
Shrimp can be hard to peel, but the secret is to use a paring knife. Hold your shrimp with one hand and use the knife to cut away its tail fin with your other hand. When you get down to the shell, run your paring knife along it in one direction until all of the shell has been removed.
Next up: Cajun seasoning!
1 pound kielbasa sausage, sliced
Sausage is a type of meat and contains many different ingredients. It can be made from beef, chicken or pork. Sausage may also contain added seasonings and spices such as garlic, salt and pepper to enhance the flavor of the meat. You can find sausage in many grocery stores or local butcher shops.
Salt and pepper to taste
Add salt and pepper to taste.
4 tablespoons creole seasoning
This dish wouldn’t be complete without a good amount of seasoning. Creole seasoning is a must, and there are many different brands out there that you can use. It’s best to stick with one that doesn’t contain MSG or other additives, as these will ruin the flavor of your Cajun seafood boil.

For the corn:

- 1 pound peeled rockfish fillets (3 per person)
6 cloves garlic, crushed
6 cloves garlic, crushed
Garlic is the most essential ingredient in seafood boil. It provides a strong and spicy flavor that pairs perfectly with the subtle seafood taste.
1 tablespoon lemon juice

The lemon juice adds a refreshing taste to the dish and helps to keep it from tasting too fishy.
Directions
Fill a stockpot with water and bring it to a boil. Add salt to taste.
Add red potatoes to the pot and cook for 10 minutes. If you have shrimp stock, add it to the pot at this time. Otherwise, continue without adding any additional liquid to the pot.
Add salt to taste
Add corn and cook for another 10 minutes. Add potatoes and sausage and cook for another 5 minutes. (Alternatively, you can keep the potatoes separate from the rest of the ingredients.)
Add the potatoes and sausage to the pot. Let it cook for another 5 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender but not mushy.
Remove from heat before adding shrimp and cooked for about 2-3 minutes or until it turns pink.
Drain the mixture in a colander.
